Podaca consists of three villages: Kapeć, Viskovića vala and Ravanje with a total of 660 inhabitants. The population is primarily oriented towards tourism, but they also deal with fisheries, agriculture and olive growing. Comfortable houses, villas and apartments, several catering establishments are the basis of the tourist development of Podaca.

The old settlement Podaca under the bushes of Biokovo is almost completely abandoned. It is mentioned for the first time in 1477.
