Brist settles east of Podaca to Grace along the coast, has 450 inhabitants. In Brist you can find a wide selection of quality holiday homes and apartments. Residents are engaged in fishing and agriculture, restoring old and new olive groves. The town of Brist is mentioned for the first time in 1571, but it is considerably older as evidenced by numerous archaeological finds. In the old village there is the church of Sv.Margarita, which is supposed to be built in the 15th century. In the apse of the church are the tombstones of the Kačić family. Andrija Kačić Miošić, one of the most famous Dalmatian poets, was born in one of the stone houses near the church by tradition.    
 

Brist is the birthplace of several other important Croatian personalities, including Mladen Veža, one of the most significant living Croatian painters. Mladen Veža has most of his works with motifs from Brista donated a monastery in Zaostrog, in which they are a permanent exhibition.
